To Shane: I wonder if you have the shingles. I have read that you can catch chicken pox twice, but usually it's shingles. But you have itchiness, not pain.

i had a chickenpox when i was young at age 7 ang i had it again this month. The blisters got crust over and starts healing but the problem is around the chickenpox scars, there are small blisters comming out around it and very itchy. I had taken anti viral medicine and it's been 2 weeks ago. I can say I am completely healed from chickenpox, but what about those small blisters coming out? does it mean i am not immune to the virus? pls help

Unfortunately, the acquisition of immunity from vaccination is not 100% effective. The general theory behind this is the immune system has a memory, and when an innocuated (weakened) virus- which is what is in the vaccine being given- is administered, the body's defences will fight it easily, and retain the memory of how to fight it in the future.

However, in some cases this isn't what happens, and the vaccine is not effective (this is common in some hepatitis vaccines). There are titre tests you can take from a doc to determine whether you kiddlywink is immune or not though.

Very, super rarely and mainly in immunocomprimised people, the vaccination can actually cause an infection, if the body is really weak, or the viruses were improperly innocuated.

But ... wouldn't you rather your child get chicken pox now rather than when they're in their teens?
Generally you can only get it once... in most cases

Hope this helps
