I have had cold sores since I was a teenager (I am 38 now) and. Fortunately the break outs are rare but when I do get them it is always following a spell of feeling stressed and rundown. Usually at the same time I will also get those sore little white spots on my tongue and maybe a mouth ulcer for good measure!

I have suffered with cold sores too around my mouth (herpes virus) though thankfully only rarely when I am feeling run down. I feel that I am one of het lucky ones that didnt’ end up with lots of it all round my mouth – yuk! Thanks for the informative article.

I have the herpes virus in my system and I sometimes break out with a cold sore on my lip. I have found that taking olive leaf and high doses of vitamin c is the best. Both help shorten the cycle of the virus and keep it at bay.
